MAAA Grant Opportunties

Mid-America’s FY 2009-2010 eGRANT application facility is ready for you to apply for Regional Touring Program support!

Before you apply, please take time to read our funding guidelines for FY 2010. Your first step will be to decide which of the two new RTP categories you will choose for your application.

You’ll find one category very much like the program we’ve operated for years: Touring Artist Fee Subsidy allows up to 3 requests (which you prioritize) to subsidize the fees of artists you’re planning to bring in from out of state.

A new, second category –Community Engagement with Touring Artists– allows presenters with a serious commitment to community engagement with the touring artists you present to apply for a single grant providing overall support for your entire season or a substantial subset of it with the greatest potential to reach new audiences and positively affect local cultural life.

Applications for both categories must be filed no later than the April 1, 2009. No more first-come, first-served in Mid-America’s regional touring funding! All applications will be reviewed by one grant making panel. Based on the criteria outlined in the guidelines, they’ll recommend funding for the strongest applications we receive.

As in the past, all applications will be made through our online eGRANT facilities. But before creating your application, you’ll need to decide which of the two categories to use.

Please Don Adams or Performing Arts Program Manager Betty Maltbia if you have questions (816-421-1388, extensions 226 and 228, respectively). We’ll get increasingly busy as the April 1 deadline approaches, so please plan your proposals and get in touch with questions as soon as possible.

American Masterpieces Exhibit

"Work is Art and Art is Work" was a phrase printed on the business cards of Cope Ashlock, a luthier who operated The Violin Shop in downtown Columbia, Mo. Ashlock’s motto inspired a recent traveling exhibit featuring six talented Missouri luthiers. To view an online version of this NEA American Masterpieces project click here.
