The Bach Aria Soloists (BAS) is the dynamic chamber ensemble dedicated to bringing the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach, his contemporaries, and composers of today whom he inspires, to new life through their critically-acclaimed Community Concert series and signature Hauskonzerts. BAS is comprised of harpsichord-organ-piano, violin, and soprano. Their ingenious collaborations with multi-genre arts partners have included tango masters, modern dancers, jazz celebrities, actors, theater companies, and world-renowned Bach scholars Dr. Christoph Wolff and Dr. Markus Rathey.
Elizabeth Suh Lane is BAS’ founder-artistic director-violinist. She is a former first violinist with the London Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Lindsey Lang, soprano, is BAS’ newest member and a Grammy Award winner with the Kansas City Chorale. Elisa Williams Bickers is principal organist and co-music director of Village Presbyterian Church.
BAS introduces their interactive BachReach education to students through numerous thematic programs including their artistic collaborations with dancers, Shakespearean actors, folk fiddlers, Elizabeth’s Strings and Chamber Music Clinics, and Lindsey Lang’s vocal clinics. BachReach is creative education offered in schools, senior centers, libraries, community centers, and other venues, providing a fun, informative exploration of a wide spectrum of repertoire that students have never seen before.
